PRW uses premium grade 4140 Alloy Steel. Our studs are then specially heat-treated to 200,000 psi. This heat treating procedure allows for total heat penetration which results in a stronger, more superior stud compared to lesser quality studs from other manufacturers. To ensure perfect alignment with gaskets and cylinder heads, PRW studs are then centerless ground after being heat treated. This attention to detail results in remarkably straight and concentric studs. PRW studs are then thread rolled which assures better fatigue strength than having this process done before heat treatment. This manufacturing process may cost more to do but the results are well worth the extra effort. You will also note that PRW offers specially undercut studs for several engines. This procedure (done only to the shorter studs) more equalizes the "stretch" of both studs, which makes for a more consistent clamping force - and one that compensates for head gasket compression when the cylinder heads are installed. This helps prevent blown head gaskets, and assures optimum engine sealing! Premium quality heat-treated 4135 chrome moly steel head stud kits are available for most every domestic and import applications. You won't find a better quality stud on the market from any other source. Look for PRW stamped on each stud and 12 point nut is your assurance of quality.
