The automotive aftermarket has never been more connected. Manufacturers, distributors, dealers, installers, and enthusiasts can all communicate instantly, creating more opportunities than ever before.
Unfortunately, that connectivity also creates opportunities for bad actors looking to make a quick buck.
Recently, SCT Performance issued a warning to dealers and distributors regarding a fraudulent email campaign promoting an alleged "SCT Elite Dealer Program." The scam claimed to offer exclusive territories, rebate programs, preferred product access, and other dealer benefits in exchange for payments ranging from $3,000 to $10,000.
The important takeaway isn't just that a scam exists—it's that situations like this highlight the value of working with trusted companies that maintain direct relationships with manufacturers and authorized distribution channels.
At CSP, we source products through authorized manufacturers and the nation's largest performance distributors. Those relationships allow us to verify information directly with the source and ensure our customers receive legitimate products backed by proper manufacturer support and warranty coverage.
CSP is a source you can trust. Not only do we only focus through authorized channels, but we also display our inventory levels as well. That way, you do not wind up ordering from someone who is taking your money, but not fulfilling your order until you complain about it. We pride ourselves in the transparency and our ability to connect thousands of brands to you - officially.
Unauthorized dealers you risk losing guarantees, warranty support, and even getting fraudulent products - knock offs passed around as the real thing. If you are worried, just look at a company's recent Google reviews. If they have no reviews, or many bad reviews (by percentage), be careful. And to be fair, we've had some bad reviews in the past through growing pains and being understaffed - and look at us now... writing blog posts like this haha. But that's also why I say look at recent reviews. When bad reviews came in for us, we took corrective measures to make us the company we are today, one which I'm very proud of. And one, where you can be sure you are getting your products as well as getting official ones.
