MSD 6202 - Ultra 6A Ignition Box
Ignition Box - Ultra 6A - Digital - Capacitive Discharge Ignition - Multi-Spark - 45000 Volts - Red - Each
Ultra 6A Ignition Box; Red; Compatible w/4/6/8 Cylinder Engines w/Distributor; 1.1 Amp Per 1000RPM; 520-540 Volts;
The Ultra 6A Series continues to use a high speed controller that can make extremely quick compensations to the output voltage, multiple spark series, timing and rpm limits while maintaining precise timing and accurate rev limiting. The circuits and controller of the MSD have been thoroughly filtered to create protection against Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI).The Ultra 6A Series feature a capacitive discharge ignition design. The majority of stock ignition systems are inductive ignitions. In an inductive ignition, the coil must store and step up the voltage to maximum strength in between each firing. At higher rpm, since there is less time to charge the coil to full capacity, the voltage falls short of reaching maximum energy which results in a loss of power or top end miss.
- 12-15 Volts, 7 Volt Start
- 1.1 Amp per 1,000 RPM
- Powerful capacitive discharge of multiple sparks improves performance, and ensure complete combustion
- Plug and Play upgrade to current installations with a 6201, MSD 6A
- New processor and board design provide a highly efficient ignition, minimal heat and max spark energy with less current draw
- Consistently high spark energy of 135mJ to 150mJ for every firing, from idle to redline rpm
- Quickens throttle response & improves starting
- Tach Output to drive an external Tachometer
- Easily installs on 4, 6, 8-cylinder engines with distributors
- High rpm operation and maximum output using the Blaster HVC, PN 8252 or HVC II, PN 8253
- 15,000 RPM with 14.4 Volts
- Operates on most 7 to 28-volt electrical systems
- Connects to points and magnetic pickups
- Compact design - full MSD power
- 60% smaller and 50% lighter than the MSD Digital 6A (688 grams vs 344 grams)
- Fully protected against an open coil, shorted coil & open load
